Reading for History: Click to download a pdf listing some suggested books for reading that are based on historical topics. The books listed have not been selected for their historical accuracy. Some are more varied in their historical precision than others. However, they have been chosen because they should be interesting to read whilst at the same time being related to specific areas of your History courses.

  • They are novels set in a particular time, not detailed text books about a definite period.
  • They are graded by difficulty into grades 1, 2 and 3. Grade 1 is the easiest level, 3 the most difficult.
  • All are in paperback or readily available in libraries. Some are shown below.
